Huntington Bank and The Arab American News Invest in Crestwood High School’s Future Leaders
On the morning of October 10, 2023, Crestwood High School in Dearborn Heights, MI, welcomed esteemed guests Gary Torgow, Chairman of Huntington National Bank, and Osama Siblani, Editor and Publisher of The Arab American News. Their visit marks the collaborative effort between their respective institutions to fund the F.L.I.P. Scholarship, a testament to their commitment to investing in the futures of young leaders.
Crestwood District Superintendent, Dr. Youssef Mosallam, and the school’s Principal, Roni Abdulhadi, greeted the visitors with heartfelt enthusiasm. Together with Crestwood’s shining seniors, LaChelle Moreland-Jones, Isabella Jomaa, and Manar Hariri, they shared the heart and soul of what it means to be a Crestwood Charger.
“As a Crestwood Charger, it’s more than just attending a school; it’s about being a part of a family that nurtures leadership and success,” said Dr. Mosallam. “Our commitment to student success is evident, and with the support from F.L.I.P. Scholarship, we’re ensuring a brighter future for our students in higher education.”
When inquired by Mr. Torgow about his ascent to his esteemed role, Principal Abdulhadi, with genuine humility, responded, “My unwavering commitment to student success and the leadership opportunities provided by Dr. Mosallam led me here. Yet, it’s imperative to underscore the relentless efforts of our dedicated counseling team, especially Mrs. Shadia Berry. Their consistent guidance has paved the way for our students to secure spots in the nation’s most illustrious institutions.”
The morning progressed with an insightful tour of the new Athletic Complex, led by Jeff Hachigan. The complex, according to Dr. Mosallam, “Symbolizes the unity of our district. By investing in facilities like this, we not only enhance our students’ experiences but also strengthen our community.”
Osama Siblani expressed his admiration for the accomplishments of the Crestwood team, especially after witnessing the splendor of the new complex. “It’s truly inspiring to see how much Crestwood has achieved. This complex is a testament to that.”
The visit concluded with a special treat for the guests—a welcoming message displayed on the school’s state-of-the-art sports scoreboard screen.
This collaboration between Huntington Bank, The Arab American News, and Crestwood High School signifies a promising step forward in supporting the next generation of leaders. As Crestwood High continues to flourish, there’s no doubt that its students will be at the forefront of change, embodying the spirit of a true Crestwood Charger.
